Cultural Territories

Panel: Outside Cities

Culture Policies

We need a more balanced territorial development including in and with culture! The IN SITU conference 2024– an EU Horizon Europe project – was a great occasion to reflect together on updated cultural policies for territories outside city centres. Historically, a majority of culture action and policy was dedicated to major centres. This model is not appropriate anymore in the context of major transformations as well as the changing patterns of use of space in the 21st century. Looking very much forward to the next occasions of debate in the IN SITU context. It was also a great pleasure to had in depth exchanges with my colleagues from the International Advisory Board Avril Joffe and Patrick Brouder. Congratulations to the whole team of the IN SITU project and special regards to Nancy Duxbury and Paola Di Nunzio. Sylvia Amann is member of the International Advisory Board of the multiannual EU research project In SITU “Place-based innovation of cultural and creative industries in non-urban areas”
