Cultural Territories

Key Note: Co-Develop Urban-

Rural Spaces

How to co-develop urban-rural spaces by the means of culture was the key question discussed during the cultural policy conference of the city and region of Hildesheim. In my key note speech I explored the fact that the dichotomy of urban rural is not accurate anymore – and probably never was. The territorial and cultural features are manifold, layered and overlapping. Art and culture are areas with considerable potential to make this diversity visible. I highlighted in my speech and the panel debate main features of future cultural policies and how integrative approaches can be brought into practice related to the diversity of territories. Many thanks to the Mayor of Hildesheim, the regional governing bodies as well as the key cultural operators for the enriching debates – including during the panel discussion as well as the follow-up dialogues!
