EU Culture Policies

Transformation Policies at

the EU Cultural Affairs

Committee

At the Council of the European Union - Cultural Affairs Committee: We had the occasion to have an engaged exchange with the EU member states representatives based on my presentation of the paper „From reaction to action. Collaborative Transformation Policies in Culture and Beyond“. This forward looking reflection was elaborated in the context of the EU pilot project Creative Flip. In my publication on collaborative transformation policies, I want to contribute to a reactivation of future-oriented cultural policies after a (too) long focus on crisis reactions. I am convinced that we can be all actors of positive change, but this requires updated policies and actions. We launched these debates with a first presentation and panel discussion with David Ek - Chair of the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Council of the EU, Hannes Heide - Member of European Parliament, as well as Christos Giovanopoulos - Project Manager of Cultural H.ID.RA.N.T. project, Municipality of Halandri in Brussels. The lively exchanges were attended by a wide range of policy-makers and stakeholders from culture, arts and creative industries as well as by European institutions representatives. I would like to especially thank Isabelle DeVoldere, Martina Fraioli, Joost Heinsius, Dubravka Jurisic and the whole team of Creative FLIP and Goethe as well as Sandra Kastl for all the support for the elaboration of this publication!
